Dark comedy concludes film season

April 6, 2015

The acclaimed Ealing dark comedy Kind Hearts & Coronets will be the final film of the season for the Vintage Film Club.

Don’t miss this award winning classic, starring Alex Guinness, Dennis Price and Joan Greenwood, on Saturday April 25, 7.30pm, in the Trinity Centre.

The film is set in set in Edwardian Britain and consists of flashbacks as Louis Mazzini (Dennis Price), tenth Duke of Chalfont, writes his memoirs while in prison awaiting his death by hanging the next morning.

His mother, the daughter of the 7th Duke of Chalfont, elopes with an Italian opera singer named Mazzini (also played by Price), and is disowned by her aristocratic family, the D'Ascoynes, for marrying beneath her.    After her  family refuses to let her be buried in the family mausoleum, Louis avenges his mother's death by attempting to murder every family member (all played by Alec Guinness) who stands between himself and the family fortune.

But when he finds himself torn between his long-time love (Joan Greenwood) and the widow of one of his victims (Valerie Hobson), his plans go awry.

All are welcome, and admission is by donation.
