Eco award for Holy Trinity

June 8, 2015

Holy Trinity has become the latest church in the Scottish Borders to win an award from Eco-Congregation Scotland, recognising the congregation’s commitment to protecting the environment and to forming links with the wider community.

Holy Trinity is the third church in the Scottish Borders to win an award, after it was able to show it was linking environmental issues with the Christian faith, taking measures to reduce its environmental impact and engaging with practical action in the local community.

EcoCongregation Scotland is part of a world-wide ecumenical movement with currently around 350 member churches from the Borders to the Shetlands, all dedicated to giving full recognition of the importance of environmental issues.  Of the national total, 120 have received Eco-Congregation Awards.

The Holy Trinity Eco-Congregation committee members, pictured with the award plaque, are (from left to right): Trish Hodgson, Patricia Crole (front), Carl Hodgson, Rev Philip Blackledge, Gillian Skinner, Kimberly Shaw-Walker (front), and Ian Skinner, Convener of the committee.
